Drinking water filter with replaceable filter cartridge
Although drinking water is clear when it leaves the water plant, it can absorb various particles such as rust particles and grains of sand on its one-kilometre journey to the consumer. For the protection of drinking water installations, there are therefore technical regulations concerning the installation of a mechanical filter..
DIN 1988-200, 12.4 Mechanical filters
A mechanical filter must be installed directly behind the water meter system.
DIN 806-2 B.4.2 Scope of application
The washing of small solid particles such as rust particles or grains of sand in the drinking water system must be prevented. These particles can impair the proper functioning of, for example, water heaters, shower heads, etc. or cause corrosion damage in the installation due to pitting.
DIN EN 806-5 Maintenance intervals for mechanical filters
For hygienic reasons, a filter cartridge replacement interval of 6 months must be observed for filters that cannot be backwashed and a backwash interval of 6 months must also be observed for backwashed filters. A backwash interval of 2 months is recommended.
